The Drainage and Sewerage System provided by Meenapur Nagar Panchayat (Bihar) is operated in the following manner:

1. Drainage System:

Construction and Maintenance of Drains:

Construction: The Nagar Panchayat constructs drains for the disposal of rainwater and domestic wastewater throughout the town. Regular cleaning of these drains is ensured to prevent the problem of waterlogging.

Maintenance: The drains are cleaned and repaired regularly so that water can flow smoothly without any obstruction and waterlogging problems can be avoided.

Monsoon Preparedness:

Advance Preparation: To prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season, major drains are cleaned and repaired before the onset of the monsoon. This ensures proper water flow and prevents the accumulation of water.

Pump Sets: During heavy rainfall, if excessive water accumulates in the drains, pump sets are used for water drainage so that the problem of waterlogging can be resolved quickly.

2. Sewerage System:

Domestic Sewerage Connections:

Connection: Houses under the jurisdiction of the Nagar Panchayat are connected to the sewerage system so that household wastewater is discharged properly through the drains and disposed of safely.

Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP):

Helpline and Complaint Centre: The Nagar Panchayat operates a helpline or complaint centre to address citizens’ complaints related to drainage and sewerage services. Prompt action is taken upon receiving complaints.

4. Development Plans:

Construction of New Drains:

Expansion: Under various development schemes, the drainage and sewerage network is expanded to new areas by constructing additional drains and sewerage systems.

Smart Sewerage System:

Modern Technology: In some locations, smart sewerage systems are being installed using modern technology, enabling online monitoring of drains and sewerage infrastructure and facilitating the quick resolution of problems.
